Since the meteoric rise of co-op survival/action games like Left 4 Dead, Vermintide, and others like them, it seems that that co-op games are only growing more popular. This is obvious from the creation of more modern titles, one of which is Deep Rock Galactic, where players are mining dwarves exploring procedurally generated cave systems. DRGs gameplay loop is simple. Complete a mission in the caves, get the minerals, upgrade weapons, and prepare for harder missions. But with four classes, and plenty of mission types, each adventure feels different and unique. On a round by round basis, the gameplay DRG is satisfying, but the slow power increase as you specialize your equipment and personalize your dwarf feels immensely rewarding.
The enjoyment you experience is only multiplied by the friends you bring along the way. Being able to feel like a team, even when your playing with random strangers is gratifying, and it’s an irreplaceable experience when your teamwork is flawless. Being able to build a team and a story of your adventures is awe-inspiring, and the tense moments where the survival of your team is questionable are by far the most interesting part of the game. The frantic mining fun of Deep Rock is a form of art all in itself, showing the immense value of raw, unaltered fun that you can have, reminiscent of the final moments of a Mission: Impossible movie, and the epic struggle to fight an enemy that never stops coming, very similar to fantasy epics, like the Lord of the Rings books.

And they call it a mine! A mine!
Deep Rock is an amazing game that brings the classic Left 4 Dead game mechanics a whole revamp with more movement, mining, and dwarves than ever before. On Steam, DRG is $30 dollars, which is steep for an early access title, but with the new developers roadmap, the game looks immensely promising.
Ghost Ship Games, the developer, is very open and communicative with their community, something other developers could learn from. As players themselves, GSG is encouraging feedback and criticism on their game. Especially while working toward the full release.
Buy Deep Rock Galactic. I cannot stress this enough. The community is great, the game is fantastic, and the developers are among the best ever. Rock and Stone!
10/10 would buy again.
