Sailing La Vagabonde’s new passenger

on November 25, 2019

My Two Worlds Collided!! Finally!!

My favorite YouTube family to follow around the world(literally) has agreed to take Greta Thunberg, my favorite climate activist back across the Atlantic ocean with, of course, zero emissions.

La Vagabonde, the catamaran that does it all! The Sailing La Vagabonde family consists of Elayna, Riley and their new baby Lenny. They have traveled around the world for the past 5 years while living on their little boat. They have been to the coolest places, private islands and have discovered new unique areas of the world. Their way of life has inspired many others to live healthier and happier while protecting our home, the earth.

My reason for the undying love I have for this family is that they only have one job, living their life. They travel, catch their meals, use solar energy and wind to cure their need for adventure. There are always ups and downs in every person’s life and they aren’t afraid to film it all. I love that they are going against the haters and raising a baby aboard a boat, the way they want to. 5 years ago, Elayna was living in a van in Greece, met Riley(a rookie at sailing) and they spontaneously decided to travel around the world, together. Luckily it all worked out and they now have over 2 million people that watch their weekly videos.

From watching their videos I have learned that they love people. They have Patrons that donate to them so that they can keep living their lives and filming it. They stop and sell their merchandise on land and meet and talk to thousands of people, teaching them their way of life. Most people that follow them on social media are dying to be like them but their real lives get in the way.

I learned that they care a lot about the environment and do the most to protect it. They use solar energy to power all of their Tiny Home’s needs The motors in the back are diesel but they only use those in case of emergency, otherwise, the wind is their only source of energy needs to move. Honestly, their videos are so entertaining and knowledgeable I feel like I could easily sail a sailboat. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies though, they often run into storms and sometimes have to abandon their boat for land, a stressful situation since that is their home.

When I found out that this family volunteered to sail Greta Thunberg back to Europe, let me just say I have never been so excited for a new youtube video. Greta Thunberg is trying to make a statement without flying or using emissions and La Vagabonde is the perfect place to make that statement.

They started their journey on November 13th and are planning on delivering Greta to Spain for the COP25, the 2019 United Nations Convention on Climate Change. Not only is this trip beneficial to Sailing La Vaganbonde’s youtube channel but it shows just how genuine this family is and what their true priorities are.

I also love travel videos on Youtube. I have always been intrigued by people who are able to live out my dream and travel the world. While I don’t think I will ever live a life quite like the sailing La Vagabonde family, I do hope I am able to visit some of the locations they film. I think it is really cool that they volunteered to sail Greta Thunberg back to Europe. It brings together really cool people in order to make a statement and share their adventures, opinion, and ways of living with the internet. Your blog was really interesting to read and I liked the images you included in the post. I will have to look out for the video they make together before reading your post I had no idea that they were planning on doing this and I think it will be really interesting to watch.
