Geometry Dash

Geometry Dash

If someone were to ask me which game I like to play the most, I would answer with Geometry Dash. I’ve played Geometry Dash ever since elementary school. Every time I open the app and see the quick RobTop name flash and then the actual game, I get extremely excited. Geometry Dash was made by one of the brightest minds in game development: RobTop (Robert Topala) Here are the reasons why Geometry Dash is the best mobile game in the world:

  1. All of the levels

All Geometry Dash levels are fun to do and will help your Geometry Dash skills in the long run. Stereo Madness introduces the most basic skills of playing Geometry Dash- jumping, flying, consecutive square sequences. Polargeist is concentrated with the jump dots. Dry out introduces Geometry Dash in the dark. Can’t Let Go trains the average player into carefully planning their jumps and pauses. Jumper introduces a lot of upside down work, including the upside down plane mode. Cycles solidifies a player’s use of the small circle character. Clutterfunk’s specialty is mirroring, and the Theory of Everything utilizes small spacing to make the level seem quite simple. Fingerdash is so advanced and developed to the point where there are hold-dashes and a lot of controlled flying.

  1. The music

Geometry Dash music is extremely invigorating to listen to. From the simplicity of Stereo Madness to the quick and choppy melody of Fingerdash, there are so many types of music styles in Geometry Dash. My personal favorites would have to be either the Theory of Everything or Can’t Let Go because of their softer intro music. Some honorable mentions would be Dry Out because of how dark it sounds and Polargeist because of its tropical sound.

  1. The color

One thing I really like about each level is how they have their own distinct colors. There are also multiple color changes in each level, usually indicating a level change or a change in music. I love how Dry Out corresponds with red and black. I love how Jumper and Polargeist are more of a blue-green color combination. I think the choice of color and color changes match perfectly with the mood of the music.

  1. The details of the advanced levels

As for the advanced levels, I really like the fact that there are so many different ways to improve your skills. Firstly, there are multiple levels that gradually get more and more difficult to complete the further you scroll on the app. If you do manage to complete all of the levels, you can aim to get all of the coins in each game. You can also try to unlock all of the character designs and color choices. In addition, there is Geometry Dash Subzero.

  1. The morals you learn from Geometry Dash

Lastly, and most importantly, Geometry Dash can teach you many valuable lessons. Persistence. Drive. How to make calculations quickly. Geometry Dash does get frustrating at times if you mess up. But there is practice mode, which teaches the lesson of perseverance and helps with consistency.

Based on these reasons, Geometry Dash is the best game I’ve ever played. Minecraft or Valorant will never be able to compete.

  1. Esther, I agree. Geometry dash is an amazing game that beckons back to elementary bus rides from school. The collaboration between the music and skills necessary really bring up the goodness of this game and only add to the nostalgia factor. But even beyond the pull of my childhood geometry dash is still a hard game that keeps me engaged to it’s challenging nature.

  2. I totally didn’t know you were writing your blog post about this, and I was totally so surprised when I came across this post in the feed…! But in all seriousness, I think it’s very cool when somebody can take something so simple but important in their life, and go into so much detail; it’s an admirable trait and showcases your passion (you could write a whole college essay on Geometry Dash)! Although I am an avid Geometry Dash enthusiast and player as well, I am sad to share that my skills never developed. I practice all the time, yet I still find it hard to pass the first level on the first try; maybe my brain just wasn’t wired for such complex tasks! I agree that the music, colors, and details are unique, but above all, I really resonate with the morals that come with the game. I definitely have learned to be more persistent with all my failures!

  3. Esther, I thought you were my friend but after reading your blog, you’re actually the worst person to have ever walked the earth. Don’t get me wrong, Geometry Dash has the grooviest music and is an absolute banger to play on long road trips but I simply cannot let you say that Valorant will never be able to compete. While Geometry Dash has taught me to persevere, Valorant has taught me to triumph. Thanks to nearly a year of practice, I’m now able to navigate the setting to mute my teamates mere milliseconds after they speak. This is a skill that has been essential to my happiness and that Geometry Dash will never be able to teach me.

  4. I’ve never really played Geometry Dash, so to this day I suck at it. I remember that it always cost money to buy all of the levels, and I would always get bored of the free ones. However, I do agree that the colors and music are very interesting and engaging and shape your experiences of playing Geometry Dash, although sometimes the colors and flashing patterns hurt my eyes and I lose track of my block. Also, I would have to strongly disagree with your last statement. While it might be better than Valorant (many things are better than Valorant in my opinion, Valorant is a terrible game), there is no way that Geometry Dash can surpass Minecraft. Minecraft is a piece of my childhood that continues to be entertaining, even today, and you can never go wrong with it. It’s such a classic and holds so many memories, and for this reason at least Minecraft definitely triumphs over Geometry Dash.

  5. Esther Song, your blog was so good and engaging that I downloaded the game as soon as I was done reading it. Curse you. I can’t get past 40% on level one. I am grateful for this humbling and frustrated at the same time. Now, I have something to work towards, so thank you. Great job, I’m impressed at your Geometry Dash talents!

  6. Hello, Esther! Your post made me reminisce about this childhood obsession of mine. I absolutely loved Geometry Dash- everything from the vibrant colors to the wickedly challenging levels. It was a joy to see how the jumps were timed well with the music. I specifically remember a time when I brought my iPad to summer school to play Geometry Dash. Someone asked to have a turn, and soon enough a group of kids huddled around the person playing and ignored me. This obsession brought out the best and worst in all of us, I suppose. Ultimately, as you state in your post, the game helped build my perseverance. Sometimes, when I was very frustrated, it helped to simply walk away.
