For this blog I was at a loss of ideas. I had no clue what I wanted to write about, so I turned to a random word generator. Extraterrestrial. My first thoughts were about Katy Perry’s hit song E.T. (which btw is so much better with Kanye) and the next thing my mind went to was the movie E.T., but I don’t think that’s what this topic is about.

To begin with, I don’t know much about aliens. I know there’s a lot of conspiracy theories that they exist, evidence being crop circles and eyewitness accounts and ideas about area 51, but that’s about the extent of my knowledge. So I was wondering, are these legit? Could aliens actually exist? Let’s look at some evidence.

The Roswell UFO Incident

July, 1947. It is believed that a UFO crashed onto a farm in New Mexico. It is said that a farmer discovered debris and bodies in the area and the military came to gather it all up. It was reported to be a flying saucer. Many think it was an alien saucer and the whole incident was covered up by the government to not alarm citizens of the existence of aliens. There are a few similar stories to this, all leading to the government covering it all up. That brings me to the next piece of evidence, Area 51.

Area 51

There have been many reports on suspicious activity at Area 51. It is in northern Nevada where the government owns thousands of square miles of land. There is not much information about what goes on there, but the air force does test certain aircrafts there, which may be the source of the theories that aliens are trapped there. There was even a “raid” of Area 51 on September 20th of last year, which turned into more of a festival called Alienstock than anything else. I have to say, when I watched a video on Area 51, some of the aircrafts they are testing do look similar to some sort of UFOs aliens would be flying. But there was a man named Bob Lazar who claimed he used to work on alien lifeforms in Area 51, so there is a lot of evidence backing up these ideas that Area 51 is dedicated to the study of extraterrestrials.

Crop Circles

When one of the earlier crop circles was designed, a farmer claimed he saw a flying saucer overhead and after further investigation discovered the crop circle. He believed it was made by extraterrestrials. There have been many similar stories, one particular one which is said that a very complicated crop design was created under a few hours, which would have been impossible for any humans to create. Researchers of these crop circles admit that many of the circles were probably created by hoaxers, but that there is a small percentage of them that cannot be explained. Others argue that the designs have something to do with the wind patterns or other natural elements, but I honestly like the alien explanation more. Some believe that aliens use invisible beams to create crop circles so they do not even need to land on Earth to make them.

Abductions

Some of the alien abduction stories are quite convincing, especially that of Betty and Barney Hill. They believe they were experimented on by alien lifeforms and this launched a huge investigation of UFO sightings. There are of course other explanations to the many stories about being abducted, such as people simply going crazy, but some do seem very believable. It all depends on what you want to think.

While a lot of this evidence seems very intriguing and possibly real, there do seem to be many explanations for most of the stories that do not involve extraterrestrials. However, I do think that there are other lifeforms out there somewhere. The universe is huge. We can’t be the only planet with living organisms on it, it just doesn’t seem plausible. And there is a small percentage of this evidence that honestly does not have an explanation to it. Maybe those crop circles really were made from some natural elements, or maybe they were designed carefully by aliens. It’s up to you to decide what you choose to believe in.

  1. Allison, interesting blog! I’ve never turned to a word generator for a blog but I should try it out for one of my upcoming blogs! I’ve never really thought about aliens or extraterrestrials coming and taking over the Earth, but it was interesting to read about the evidence that points towards alien life. I’ve always heard about crop circles and abductions, but I’ve never seen/read about them that elaborately until now! I remember when people were going to raid Area 51 last year that was very funny. Also I agree Katy Perry’s ET is better with Kanye, it’s basically was makes the song so catchy. Also the movie ET is also amazing. Great blog!
