  1. Hey Abraam! Though I have to admit, I’ve never really thought of this topic before on how people have lost their lives in a really silly way, let alone knew about these instances! I can’t believe Hans had a beard that was 4 feet and 7 inches long – he must have some really hair-y genes (HAHAHA) Puns aside, I think facepalm #0 can come from the fact that he grew his beard to be that long! Like why? As someone who’s known the all too terrible pains of holding one’s bladder, I can’t believe Tycho had held his bladder to such an excessive amount just to save face – it ended up costing his life! I wonder if they didn’t have a private bathroom at the banquet – is that why Tycho was so conscious about going to the bathroom? Love how you incorporated elements of your own voice into the story on David – can’t believe he literally ended up killing himself by shooting a cactus! Your message rings loud and clear – don’t do stupid things! 🙂

  2. Hello, Abraam! Your facetious voice appeals to my dark sense of humor. It is shocking to see how Hans could actually grow a 4 foot 7 inches long beard- that is too close to my height to not be unsettling. I can only imagine the care that goes into maintaining such a long beard- like the Rapunzel of people with facial hair. For the second death, Brache could really have used a nephrostomy tube to drain the urine out. I wonder what sort of medical tools could have been used to help his condition? 10 days without going to the bathroom is beyond excessive. As for the third death, I find that the 26 foot tall cactus is far more impressive than the man that was crushed by its branch. Just incredible- I can only recall seeing three or four feet cacti at most.

  3. Abraam,

When I first saw the title I thought you were talking about a beloved childhood game of mine that kept me up for hours at a time and sometimes drove me to mild insanity!

When I started reading your blog I realized you were really talking about Dumbs ways people have died. I think it plays along with Darwin’s theory and the infamous Dawrin awards. Building off of your blog I think the Darwin awards are something you should check out cause holy cow there are an insane amount of them. It’s weird how safe we feel in an environment when we don’t realize how close we are to danger. I mean take cars for example. Over 100 people a day die in the US just by driving their car. Thats over 30,000 people a year!

    Anyways, have a good one!

  4. Weirdly enough, I love the premise for this blog. It takes a morbid element of life and makes it light hearted by laughing at how absurd it can be sometimes. My personal favorite from the list is Hans Steiniger. The idea of tripping on your own four foot long beard and dying in a fire seems straight out of a cartoon (well, maybe except for the dying part), but I did get a good chuckle out of reading his story. Also, don’t ask me how I know of this, but if you wanna do some further reading on this subject, look up the List of Unusual Deaths page on Wikipedia. It’s got a timeline of dumb ways people have died starting from the ancient world all the way up to 2022. Cheers to reading! And cheers to your blog!

  5. Hi Abraam, your blog was rather eye-opening. I’ve often thought of how I would die. Ironically enough, I don’t find these thoughts to be anxiety ridden or even fearful. They seem interesting for some reason. Anyways, I was really interested with the guy who got completely obliterated by that cactus. Karma is definitely real and was well felt when those cacti branches taught him his lesson. In general, I try my best not to do dumb and ignorant stuff like this dude in order to keep karma on my side and hopefully die a less gruesome death. Personally, I was thinking that dying of natural causes would be a little too bland. I think something like a heart attack or at least something somewhat dramatic/exhilarating would be fun. And yah it would be painful but the agony will only last for a few minutes before death. I’ve heard some interesting things about the moments before death and how some people feel as if they have transcended pain/humanity and that they feel at peace at last.
