So I presume all of you have heard of Oasis and their hit song Wonderwall, but do you know the true story behind the brothers who became global phenomenons? Liam and Noel’s story is a fascinating one stemming from brotherly hatred. They created something amazing but as you can imagine working with a sibling your whole life can be quite frustrating. In this blog I will be describing how they got where they were when Oasis split up and why they did. Then I will tell you the good and bad of both brothers, and leave you to make the decision as to who is better.

First off, how did the brothers become so famous? Liam Gallagher was asked to join a group of three to create a band. Later his brother was invited to join and play as the guitarist. Liam was the singer in this band and Noel played instruments and wrote the lyrics. Their first single Supersonic, was number 31 in the charts and launched them onto a road of success. They kept releasing absolute BANGERS until they became the most popular band in the world playing to over 250,000 people. So where did it all go wrong?

Noel and Liam fought constantly insulting each other and they hated working together. Eventually Noel had enough and left. He did not tell anybody he was leaving and that left the band in a bad state. Liam was furious and the two have not spoken since this. They both went their separate ways continuing their music careers. Now Noel has Noel’s High Flying Birds, and Liam has himself (with a few band members of course). Just because they don’t see each other anymore however does not mean that they stopped fighting. They are constantly bad mouthing each other whenever they get the chance. For example Noel said about Liam, “He’s rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.” Although this is quite amusing it is also very childish. Liam is no different however he constantly says Noel looks like a potato. Both cannot get past the sibling hatred for each other.

Now on to their music. I may be a little biased but Liam is just better. You would have thought that without his brother writing the lyrics for him he might have fallen behind but I believe his new songs are amazing. I have been to see Liam perform twice and Noel once and have loved all of the concerts. Liam is more entertaining as he is so unpredictable. He is angry quite often and is known for walking off the stage long before he is supposed to leave. Noel was still good, however he is more tame. His first album with Noel’s High Flying Birds was very good but his most recent was not so good. He switched his genre and it totally backfired. Liam has stuck with what he knows and it has paid off.

Both are interesting characters but from a moral perspective Noel is more honorable. Liam only now has started meeting his children who are quite old because he ignored them for most of his life. Although he is starting to see them more and involve them in his life his lack of attentiveness in the past is questionable.

With this information I hope you can make a decision to who you like more Liam or Noel. I can’t help but like Liam even though he can be a tosser sometimes.
