Frozen II: Spoiler free

Ever since I first saw Frozen, me being my fifth grade self, I absolutely loved it and hoped there would be another one. Six years later, Frozen II was finally released and even though I am now a senior in high school, I knew I had to see it. No spoilers are included in this blog, for entertainment value if you decide to see it.

After watching, one of the first thoughts that came to mind was “the first movie was better.” I know it has been a long time since I had watched it, but just from vivid memory, more exciting plot twists had happened within the first movie. This movie seemed like it was an idea that producers came up with at the beginning of 2019 and less like a long time plan with a focused idea. Especially for being a Disney movie, the plot was not as exciting and eye opening as the first movie, making it easier to expect the unexpected.

Even though the movie has its flaws, overall, it is a really good movie. Obviously, since us seniors are older than we were in 2013, we would say to ourselves “I’m too old to see this movie, it’s for little kids.” Keep in mind, you were probably that 10 or 11 year old sitting down to watch this movie, waiting to see what excitement it brought. Frozen II still had moments that surprised you and left you waiting to see what happens.

The plot of this movie was not very jumpy like many Disney movies, going from one exciting moment to the next. However, in many ways, it was able to keep me drawn in. It interested me, the way one setting moved to the next. The plot in this movie was very similar to the plot of the first, with similar things happening to the same or different characters. However, there were some new characters introduced throughout the movie.

Normally during Disney movies, the story starts off happy and energetic and slowly as the movie goes on, things will start to go bad and will slowly make its way back to the original energy for a happy ending. This is still your average song filled Disney movie, however this movie showed more darkness and required more thinking than many other movies in order to fully understand what was going on.

After finishing the movie, there is really no telling whether a third Frozen will come out or not. The story did not seem to have a finale and many new bits of information was thrown at the audience at the end, maybe hinting at a third movie. All in all, I enjoyed seeing this movie and if you liked the first Frozen, I would highly suggest watching this movie.
