On the rainy river

Courage is a strong word Tim o Brian does not show alot of it in this chapter he first gets drafted into the war but has second thoughts on it. He decides on going to Canada he then leaves leaving a note on the table for his parents to see. He then drives to the border and stays in an old guys cabin he then stays with him for 6 days. I feel like Tim does not understand the importance of going into the war even though he did not believe in it. He stays with this old man and they exchange very little words he doesn’t even talk about why he there then he takes the boat on the 6th day out to the border but Tim has many flashbacks and realizes that he cannot do thisĀ  anymore he basically starts to cry and decides to not go through with it. this takes alot of bravery to finally face his problems but he is still a coward because he was about to leave his home country to flee off the Canada which is the wrong decisionĀ  to make. He was in the wrong and he finally realized it he decides to not go through with his plan and then is in the war not very long after. He made the wrong choice to leave home he could have stayed and had some dignity but did not. If I was drafted into a war sure I would not enjoy going but at least id know I was fighting for my people of my home country which would make it better for me. In this chapter he talks about how he has never told anyone because he was way to embarrassed to share with anyone he probably has deep regret about everything that he did but it wasn’t till during that he realized it and that all I have to say about that chapter it was sad and he showed very little courage by doing the things he did.
