Starting to watch “The Bachelor” franchise can be overwhelming. There’s so many seasons, decades of history, and more identical contestants complete with names like “Lauren” or “Ben” than you can count. Sure, you can jump right in and be fine, but after watching a season or two, you can expect to want to go back to older seasons to watch more. Which seasons should you watch? Don’t fret, I have compiled the three most necessary seasons to watch in order to kick off your new “Bachelor” journey.
- Sean Lowe. The only Bachelor to ever marry his final choice, Sean Lowe’s season is a classic. Sean is serious about his season, and in every episode, you can see how much he really wants to find his wife. His final pick, Catherine, sneaks up on not only him, but viewers, as she has a serious lack of screen time at first, but this surprise makes
the show interesting to view. Especially years later, as the two have three kids, it’s heartwarming to watch them get to know each other. As an added bonus, Sean’s season contains my favorite villain of all time, Tierra. She’s funny, ridiculous, and makes you irrationally angry in a way only a perfect reality TV show villain figure can.
- Ashley Herbert. My personal favorite season of “The Bachelorette”, Ashley is today
married to her final choice, JP, with two kids. Ashley really went through it all on her season, making it not only a great love story, but also entertaining. For example, for one date, she invites her contestants to write a roast about her. Needless to say, it doesn’t go well. However, being able to see the obvious connection between her and JP makes it all worth it. I fully recommend it.
- Jason Mesnick. This season is up on Netflix, so if you have it, you have no excuse to not watch. Jason’s season changed the game. It is rumored that before his season, the entire show was going to be cancelled. However, when Jason broke up his engagement with Melissa on live TV after his season had ended, and then went back to his runner-up Molly, “The Bachelor” became a sensation. Headlines were made all around the country and ratings skyrocketed. In order to fully
understand where the franchise is now, why the show has been so contingent upon ground-breaking drama, and even understand Arie Luyendyk’s season, which had a similar ending, Jason’s season is crucial.
Of course, these are just the seasons that I think everybody should watch to start. After this, there are countless other seasons worth watching, from Rachel Lindsay to Trista Rehn to Ben Higgins and more. I have no doubt that after viewing these three seasons, you’ll be hooked on the franchise and pumped to continue your “Bachelor” binge. After all, what else is there to do in quarantine? Enjoy this list, and if you watch, feel free to let me know which one reigns as your favorite (or let me know if there’s a season that you feel should have been in the top three).
