I’m sure quarantine has been crazy for all of you. Adapting to this new way of life cannot be easy. One of the biggest challenges for me has been finding ways to fill my time. While I’m sure the various hobbies I’ve picked up differ from the rest of you, there is one daily hobby that I know we all have in common….We all really like to eat.
So for this reason I’ve decided to release my official ranking of the best meals of the day, with a few recommendations of the best foods to have in each spot.
Coming in at number five we have the mid day snack. This “meal” is essential for getting from lunch to dinner however that is really it’s only function. While there is a long jump between this meal and the next, it is not to be ignored because of its unlimited options. This meal is typically a small one but it can be one that tastes very good. Some personal favorites of mine for the Mid Day Snack include a bowl of fruit, a handful of almonds or a pack of chips or cheez-its.
At number four we start to move into the more valid meals of the day. In my personal opinion, lunch is often forgotten about when considering the best meals. This is because it really only has a few options that feel like they should be eaten at lunch. This brings me to my recommendations and the only reason lunch is even relevant… the sandwich. Whether it be a chicken sandwich or a typical lunch meat, the sandwich is a food for lunch and LUNCH only. The only other stereotypical food that I can think of regarding lunch is the burger but that could just as well belong to dinner. A couple of the best meals to eat at lunch (aside from the aforementioned) are chicken and tacos. Really just spectacular meals all around but could definitely be considered dinner foods.
The top three meals really are all amazing. While there is only one correct power ranking, I would not be mad at anyone for saying that breakfast is the best. Personally I could eat breakfast at any time of the day and I truly appreciate the wide range of foods that belong to this time of the day. Obviously we have the trademarked foods of eggs, bacon, sausage and toast that everyone loves at breakfast, but it’s the endless options that make this meal so amazing. A few personal favorites of mine aside from the other classics I already listed are pancakes and french toast.
Since dinner is such a special meal it was hard for me not to put it first. It just has such a value to the day that cannot be missed. It’s ability to truly demonstrate the many amazing foods of all ethnicities is one that no other meal can do. Whether it be sushi from Japan or pasta from Italy, every nationality has a “personal best” they can offer for dinner. Another great part about this meal is the livelihood of it. No matter where you go out, the place will be packed with energetic people all ready to feast. Even if you stay home, Dinner is the one time of day where everyone comes together to enjoy a great meal and each other’s company. A few other personal favorite dinners of mine are steak and potatoes or salmon and rice.
There is just something different about a midnight snack. I don’t care who you are or where you’re from, you have not lived until you have experienced the true wonder that is a midnight snack. Sneaking down the stairs to prepare that unworldly meal, whether it be a feast for kings or a small snack, is arguably the best feeling one can have. The first of many amazing qualities for the midnight snack is the openness to it. There is nothing that cannot be eaten for a midnight snack, essentially including all the foods from every meal. The next great aspect of the midnight snack is the fact that it is not eaten every day. Instead the midnight snack is a gift that comes every now and then and brings with it such an amazing feeling. My personal favorite midnight snacks include cereal, ramen and literally any leftover food still in the fridge.

I totally agree with you that a midnight snack and dinner are the two best meals. For me, I love dinner because my mom always cooks and her food is AMAZING.
But, I’ve gotta disagree with you and say that breakfast is definitely the worst meal though. I’m never really hungry, and besides pancakes I’m not a huge fan of breakfast food.
