Mary Anne is transformed from a typical girl into a predatory killer from the new environment which the men have been through and prepared for. The life style of a women back during the war is a different reality than what the soldiers were faced with and saw day in a day out. The mental stress that one goes through is unimaginable, unlike some people may think. One thing that weighed heavy on Mary would be the amount of blood and death along with injuries. We as people might say that’s not too bad until you are standing within inches from it.

I’m not saying women can’t do this but back then was different and women weren’t put in these scenarios along with this amount of damaging stress. Women now a day are given equal rights and opportunity, which is why many have chosen war as their path to follow in life which is now an easy task for anyone. But going back to the question if it mattered is she was a woman I would say yes it does matter.

In today’s society people are transformed by social media, whether it’s a good or bad thing people dictate their life off of it and nothing else. Kids are so wrapped up in the thought of likes, views and “clout” which could be a good thing but also a very steep downfall. Standards should not be held for each person but new standards should be held for everyone not the same one for millions.

In 2019-2020 year everyone is looking for the break in whatever they are currently doing whether that’s getting the promotion you have been stressing for or the grade you wanted, the dream college, winning that game, or just a day off. Everyone is trying to find that one thing to give them that moment of relief.

But what ends up getting to everyone as it got to Mary was change. Change can be the best and worst thing in your life. Many go through changes they can’t control yet they are given them. To deal with the change don’t try and keep trying to revert back to normal but create a new normal for you to walk by.

I’m not saying to completely get rid of social media but to limit the uses of it. Our future is through technology but if we use it in these negative ways then technology can and will be the down side of our generation and the future generations.

In the chapter Mary was so unconnected with her original way of life. Which we do by being on our phones so often, Also Mary changed because of the environment she was surrounded by. This is an example of allowing the environment and things that are happening change you as a person. In all, Mary was changed because of the distant connects to her whole self, as that sweet girl who was in love and wore pink and a blouse to now having none of the characteristics.
