Sweetheart of song Tra Bong

In this chapter Mary Anne at first was a smiley girl who was curious about a lot of things. Then she decided to go to the war because it “intrigued her. The land, too, and the mystery.” Going on later into the war she stopped wearing jewelry and cut her hair short and wrapped it in a dark green bandanna. She changed a lot. This war had created/transformed Mary Anne to be a predatory killer. Mary Anne was at first innocent then and had no clue what she got herself into. In this chapter another importance is she is a women, many women like her that were innocent didn’t exactly want to go into the war or had no desire too and At that time men were the ones normally to join the war. Which can relate to the fact that people change like Mary Anne did due to the place she was at which was the war, Some things that change people are education, wealth and birth but Mary Anne in this case affected her by, ” Vietnam had the effect of a powerful drug: that mix of unnamed terror and unnamed pleasure that comes as the needle slips in and you know your risking something” Experiences change people and war changed Mary Anne.
