What’s hot?
What do Baby Yoda, High School Musical, and Marvel all have in common? They are all currently available on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney +. Disney + is basically Disney’s version of Netflix and provides users the ability to watch old Disney classic movies, old Disney television series, Star Wars movies, Marvel movies, and also includes new, original series, such as High School Musical, The Musical, The Series and The Mandalorian. Living in a Disney-loving house, of course my family had to try out Disney + and see what all the hype was about.
Best things to watch on Disney +
The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian is Disney +’s eight-episode “Star Wars” series and takes place 5 years after “Return of the Jedi”. The main character, the Mandalorian, is a bounty hunter who is surprised to learn that his bounty is none other than Baby Yoda. Will Mandalorian learn what is so special about Baby Yoda? Will Baby Yoda use the Force to save Mandalorian? The force seems strong in that Baby. Tune in each Friday for a new episode.
High School Musical, The Musical, The Series
Did you love High School Musical 1, 2, & 3 and wish there was a High School Musical 4? Well, then this series is for you. High School Musical, The Musical, The Series, takes place at the high school where the movie High School Musical was filmed. It follows the lives of the students who are cast in the musical when the school decides to put on the musical High School Musical. Similar to the High School Musical movies, there are some great song and dance numbers using both music from the musical and original songs. High School Musical, The Musical, The Series offers a new episode each Friday.
Phineas and Ferb
If you find yourself wondering, “Hey, where’s Perry?”, the answer is on Disney +. I don’t know about you, but I miss the good old days when Phineas and Ferb was on the Disney Channel. This show was my childhood and none of the newer cartoon series on Disney can hold a candle to this classic. Disney + now offers all 222 episodes of Phineas and Ferb whenever you want to watch them. Now, it’s time to see if I have time to watch all 222 during winter break!
Marvel Movies
While I admit I am not the biggest Marvel Comics fan, my youngest sister and parents liked the Avenger movies and some of the other Marvel Movies. My Mom commented after seeing Avengers Endgame that she felt like she didn’t know who some of the people were and why they were at the funeral at the end. (I’m not revealing whose funeral, in case some of you are still waiting to see Avengers Endgame.) Well, my Mom was finally able to stop wondering because Disney + has every Marvel Movie available for her to catch up on the backstories leading up to Avengers Endgame. She finally found her answer after watching seven different Marvel movies. I may have to see what all the fuss is about and check out the Avenger movies once I finish getting my Phineas and Ferb fix.
Well, my family did the free week trial of Disney + over Thanksgiving break, and needless to say we were hooked and became annual Subscribers. We all have different things that are our favorites to watch on Disney +, but that is the great thing about this new channel. There is something for everyone, from Star Wars to Marvel to Disney classic movies. Disney + won my family over to the Dark Side.
Love this blog! I’ve heard a ton of things about Disney + recently since it has become so popular but I have been very skeptical myself. MY family subscribes to Netflix and Hulu etc. so I didn’t think paying for yet another subscription would be worth it, but I had no idea the vast majority of things they have! I am not too much of a Marvel person myself, but what you said about the High School Musical Series seems like so much fun and a unique concept. I’m also always down for some good – old fashioned Phineas and Ferb!!
You definitely helped sway me more in my decision. Love the personal touch you added when talking about your family! It would be interesting to know in the future if you ever get bored of the subscription.
