Random Ramblings to my Future Self

I’ve seen quite a few of these blog posts recently, and with my lack of inspiration, I guess that I’ll be jumping on the bandwagon. Feel free to read all my tangents below, a brain dump, if you will, but don’t expect much to make sense to anyone but myself. (Even then, I don’t always make sense to myself.) This should prove to be a great opportunity for me to see my natural train of thought and how quickly I can segway. That being said, let’s get into my spiel.

Today’s date: 26 APR 2020

The coronavirus lockdown was extended until May 30th recently, and honestly I don’t think I even had much of a reaction because I’ve become acclimated to solitary confinement in front of my computer. Just for a small update, I’ve started binge watching Designated Survivor and have come to enjoy political dramas. I’m still not into politicking at all, but I’ve started to entertain the possibility of law school in the future… but then again do I really want to be in school that long? After all, that’s why I declared med school a no-go. That, and the fact that I didn’t really enjoy chemistry or biology in high school, so how will I put up with organic chemistry courses in college? Med school’s also expensive and seems like the type of gig where you’d only exceed if you were insanely committed to becoming a doctor or other, which doesn’t sound like me at the moment.

But enough about higher education institutions, because at the time of this writing, I just made myself a smoothie. It’s amazing. Four simple ingredients, perfectly creamy and I would say pretty darn healthy. It all comes down to the ratios. I use a Nutribullet and the 24 oz cup, and I must say I consider the MAX line just a guideline. No one asked but here’s my recipe: 1 cup of frozen mangoes, 1 whole banana, a handful of spinach (about 1 cup, but who measures leaves) that will fill the blender cup to the top. Add water just up to the mangoes, then smush down the spinach/bananas a tad to make room for the blade top. Blitz it up, wake up your parents if it happens to be 2am or something, and enjoy.

Alright, now onto other things: Trader Joe’s. Not only do a lot of my favorite snacks hail from this establishment, but so do the staples of my daily quarantine diet. The frozen mango I mentioned earlier? Yep, from Trader Joe’s. My favorite bread: San Francisco-Style Sourdough Bread. I mean, who doesn’t like a good sourdough? It’s also one of the few breads I can enjoy without toasting. Every morning, in addition to my daily gummy vitamins, a lovely slice of sourdough gets slathered with TJ’s Creamy No Salt Almond Butter. My pantry is usually stocked with Chili Spiced Dried Mango, Ghost Pepper Potato Chips (not spicy at all IMO but the flavor is excellent), Jerk-Style Plantain Chips, and Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels.

Let’s be honest, I really thought that I would expand into more “deep” topics 500 words in. Potentially, I was supposed to give my future self advice and be “serious” in a blog for a change. But maybe that just isn’t me. I hold obnoxiously high standards, not routinely at all; instead, they come around in freakish waves of motivation. Today, I biked 20 miles for the heck of it. The day before, I did no exercise whatsoever except for an Alexis Ren ab workout. Some days I eat like an Instagram fitness influencer, others I devour a thousand-calorie family size bag of chips in one sitting. In quarantine, inconsistency is my consistency. So I guess my wise words to my future self are that it’s okay. It’s okay to not be doing the “right” thing everyday, it’s okay to write about food in *nearly* every single one of your blog posts. Maybe you haven’t seen your friends in person in ages, everything rite-of-passage-esque about senior year is in question, but life goes on. It’s okay.
