Here’s a little about me…
My name is Julia Lyon and I’m a senior in high school this year.
I feel like I need to start off by talking about my family, since it is such a huge part of my identity. I am the youngest of six children. I have three older brothers and two older sisters who love to poke fun at me and each other. As much as we love to make fun of each other, we are also very close. When we were younger we would spend every summer in Wisconsin, specifically on Lake Geneva. We got to run around and swim to our hearts content. We went to sailing camp, but somehow learned the most about sailing from our dad and uncles. In addition to my family, my grandparents live in Wisconsin and one week every year is set aside for their twelve kids and 36 grand kids to come visit. There’s never a quiet moment that last week of July…

If you couldn’t already tell, I love to spend time with my family and friends. My friends and my family are very adventurous and we always have a lot of fun. With my friends, sometimes we will go for a drive and just see where we end up. We could drive forever just talking, exploring, and listening to music. Car rides with my friends are so fun and somehow incredibly therapeutic. My family is a little different. We find enjoyment in actually being outside and physically exploring everything instead of being inside a car. We like to travel somewhere new over the summers, usually a national park to go hiking. Finishing a trail with my siblings and being able to have such a unique experience with them is something I will always cherish, as cheesy as that sounds.
I have high hopes that I will be able to incorporate all these parts of my life into my future career. I am super interested in medicine and being able to help other people. I want to go to school to become a doctor or a physicians assistant and travel to less fortunate places to help people. I think this is so important because we don’t realize how lucky we are to live in such a safe, sterile environment, with access to good medical care. In this profession I will also be able to meet tons of new people everyday, which I think is really cool and important to see other peoples perspectives and how they live their life.
But for now I am just another high school senior looking forward to the rest of my life, while trying to make the most of every moment.
