Hello readers!
I’m happy that you’ve found your way to my page. I can’t guarntee it will be anything interesting yet, but I’m excited to see what will come! Right now, I bet you are probably wondering, “Who are you?” “What is this?” and “Why am I here?” Well, while I can’t really answer all of those questions concretely, on the first question, I have spent 17 years being me so if you’ll allow me to ramble your ear off for a little bit, I’d be happy to expand!
My name is Jordan Young and I came to Naperville North my junior year; before that, I lived in California, Texas, Georgia, Kansas, and Minnesota…obviously not all at the same time. The moves have mostly been because of my dad’s job (“Job doing what?” you may ask. To which I say, “Stop asking so many questions I can’t answer and let me talk!”) but I was given dogs with two of the moves to stop me from complaining so I’d say it was worth it. My older puppy is named Mocha and is 12 years old–she truly is an absolute sweetheart as the name implies–whereas my youngest is a 5 year old named Alaska and he’s a psycho. I also have a cat named Ginger, adopted just because, who likes to wreak havoc around the house and scream at all times of the day, but I love her still.
I could talk your ear off about my pets forever, but this is technically supposed to be my introduction, so I digress. I am a vegetarian and have been for a little over 1.5 years! I usually don’t bring it up because it’s rarely relevant, but well, you asked to know more about me so there it is. I’m incredibly sensitive and also super impulsive (a terrible combination, if I do say so myself) so upon watching Hank Green–love that man–’s philosophy video on non-human animals, I converted overnight and have never looked back! I think it’s a fun 180 but also the perfect anecdote for the chaotic person I am. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced extreme, outside peer pressure, however, I’m always peer pressuring myself into doing stuff. It’s great.
Outside of school, I work as a hostess at California Pizza Kitchen, volunteer wherever I can whenever I can, and hang out with friends. I also like being on my phone since it’s surprisingly easy to bootleg and read books online, but that kinda sounds sad, so let’s pretend I didn’t put it. Right now I’m in the process of applying to colleges and most are reach schools in PA, but I can always hope, right?
Enough with the general, first-day of school icebreaker information though; who am I really? That’s an incredibly complex question that I cannot quite figure out how to format into a college essay, but in short for you guys, I’d say I’m an introverted girl trying to live her best life whilst often (and I mean veeeeeerrrrryyyy often) screwing that up, but that’s okay. I’m neurotic and obsessive and self-conscious, but I’m doing my best and just figuring out who I am–one little bit at a time. I hope this blog will allow me to sort out the chaotic ramblings and general anarchy of my mind, and I hope you’ll stick around for the ride!
