My optional sonnet, uploaded for your enjoyment.

Ode to Infinite Campus

I do not like the way you look at me.

You glare, judge, and expect only my best,

Just stop; please, please, can’t you just let me be?

Why must ev’ry thing with you be a test?

My eyes are rimmed with gray to appease you,

Your eyes are cold stars set into your face.

I want to cry…there’s no time; something’s due.

Your criticism hits me like a mace.

You’re the most important app on my cell:

A single text from you can seal my fate.

You haunt me up until the final bell,

You’ve created a monster filled with hate.

Finally, the question: will I survive

With a .4, or go up to .5?

  1. PHAHAH I relate to this so much! Every single semester I always have this problem as pretty much towards the end of any semester I’m always praying that I can hit the 89.5 mark. But honestly, I feel like grades in general are just a progress towards how you are doing and I try my best to not make it a priority. For me, I’ve pretty much settled to focus on learning in the class regardless of my grade, so I try to make it a priority to become stressed not when my grade is low, but when I’m behind or not learning the material. Just some food for thought, but I definetly think you’ll do wherever you go and just relax hahah! Good luck!

    1. Ha! Thank you, Alex, for your insight. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way during finals. Sorry I’m responding so late; I hope your finals went well.

  2. Hi Miss Pece. I really love what you did here and I really enjoyed this. Additionally, I totally can relate to everything you’re saying in this post. I totally feel it. Every time I have a math test, I feel that “will I survive”, because honestly, at this point, I am not really too sure. Sometimes I just try and ignore infinite campus completely in hope that it will not stress me out too much.

    1. Hello Mr. Vaughn. I’m so glad you liked this poem! I’m also glad you found it relatable; it’s very easy to feel as though you are the only one struggling, when in reality, everyone is feeling the pressure. Anyways, good luck with your math grades, I’m sure you’re going to be fine (Calc BC, more like RIP).
