I started watching new girl in middle school. The show was brought to my attention by my mom who seemed to love it. As I began to watch it, I started binge watching, and even after I finished it I would re-watch it , something I NEVER do. The show takes place in New York. The main character, Jess, is in need of a place to live. Therefore, she finds a loft on Craigslist that four other guys are living in. Jess is extremely outgoing and impulsive, and living with four random dudes wasn’t really her main concern. She ends up moving in and the 5 of them become closer and closer as the seasons progresses. Each episode is 20 minutes long and are never really complex and don’t require paying close attention, which I like. It leads you through a series of conflicts within each character while making it hilarious at the same time. This show calls for a good laugh.

Characters- 

Jessica day: Jess is the main character. She has bright blue eyes and an innocent personality. She is very outgoing and enjoys things such as crafting and thrift shopping. She teaches at an elementary school, which fits her kid personality perfectly. She’s very uplifting and always happens to have a boyfriend. 

 Nick miller: nick is a lazy bartender from Chicago. He’s pretty sarcastic although tends to handle awkward situations very poorly and is terrible at lying. Further on in the show him and Jess become closer and closer, eventually causing  a lot  of  controversy between  them.

Winston Bishop and his cat Ferguson

 Winston Bishop: Winston is an easygoing, funny guy. He honestly makes me laugh the most. He has trouble picking up girls and loves his cat Ferguson. He acts as a good middleman in conflicts and is just a weird dude that adds a nice touch to the show.

Schmidt: Schmidt is definitely a character that stands out the most, even his name is out of the ordinary. He loves to take on the role of cooking, decorating, and cleaning. One might say he is the “top dog” of the loft. He has a strong work ethic, and is a huge businessman with a lot of narcissism. Schmidt ends up getting in a love  triangle later on, which may cause the viewer to have a different perspective about him.

Cece: Cece is Jess’s best friend, and also a model. She becomes close with all the roommates because of Jess and they all hang out with her. She’s very blunt and gives good advice to Jess. She’s a really good friend that doesn’t ask much of others and loves to have a good time

Coach(Ernie): Coach is a roommate who returned after 2 years because Winston supposedly “took his spot”. He moved out because he got a serious girlfriend, and then proceeded to move back in post breakup. Coach is a former athlete who loves fitness- fitting the standard of his title “Coach”. He usually is a pretty angry guy who tries to mask his soft side/feelings.

All in all this a  funny show that always puts me in a good mood. It’s extremely easy to go through fairly quickly given the episodes are so short.
