IT’S PROM SZN!!!! Dresses I didn’t buy.

IT’S ALMOST PROM SEASON!! Prom dresses I didn’t buy (and why!)

It’s February, which means that for any girls planning on attending prom, it’s time to start thinking about prom dresses! After watching dozens of girls try on gorgeous dresses (in agony!) I knew exactly where to start.

The Dress I thought I wanted.

Okay. So I had like, a solid ten minutes before work one day to try on dresses, and believe me when I say I ran to try them all. This had been the tight-fitting sparkly fuschia dress I had been eyeing across the dressing room, hoping that the girl who’d try it on in the size and color I wanted would hate it once she put it on. Sadly enough, she didn’t hate it, and bought it that day 🙁 While I couldn’t get my hands on the size I wanted, I just couldn’t resist trying it on. When it came time to put on the magical, sparkly dress I’d been eyeing all along, and finally zipped it up, it was… disappointing, to say the least. It was incredibly heavy, the sparkles were scratchy and uncomfortable, and let’s just say, the color looked better on the other girl.

A Cutie.

This one I liked. It was a cutie– baby blue dress with white beads corset detail, and sparkles running down to a fluttered bottom. I had in fact picked the wrong size (which might have influenced my perception of it), but the color I’d liked better (a gorgeous pink!) was not available in my size.

Better in Blue

I’m gonna be honest. This was my favorite dress– a guilty pleasure, if you will. A sparkly blue dress embellished with feathers for a little *oomph* it was definitely something! I tried this dress for the heck of it, and I felt like a movie star.

It’s Prom, not my wedding!

“Try this.” My boss had shoved this in my arms before I could even utter a word. It was a new dress she’d ordered this season, and was confused as to why none of them had sold. She’d probably *definitely* asked me to try it with the hopes I’d take it off the racks. Immediately after putting on this glistening white, one-shouldered top, I snapped a pic and took it off. It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but it was not flattering on me.

Disco! Disco!

A dazzling A-line dress that reflected different colors in every light, and with every step I took, this dress was absolutely gorgeous. But there was just too much Bling! Upon putting it on, I was, indeed a walking disco ball.

  1. Hi Faith,

I had never really given much thought to the number of tough choices that have to be made when buying prom dresses. If I had to go shopping for dresses I don’t think I’d survive. With all the different colors and styles to choose from, I’d be way too indecisive. And by the time I found the perfect one someone else would’ve already snatched it off the shelves. Truly a dog-eat-dog world that I’m simply not cut out for. I guess the whole process is kind of like buying a much less expensive house or a car. There are a million different options and you might think you missed out on your “dream dress” but at the end of the day, you’ll find one that you love and that you’re happy with. I think the one you ended up buying was a great choice.
