When it comes to purchasing everyday things, such as clothes, shoes, or groceries, there is a growing number of people who do their shopping online now. When they want to get a new jacket for the winter time, they go to their favorite brand’s website and order it in their preferred color and their size, and it comes right to their door in an average of 2-4 days. Still, with this increasing amount of online shoppers, there are many others who prefer physically going to the store to shop. For me, personally, I really like going to the store itself. If I am shopping for clothes or shoes, I like to look at the options in person to physically see the quality and try something on if I need to. Yes, online shopping can be extremely convenient, I mean you can literally sit at home and order a pair of jeans from your phone, and it will come a few days later. But, what if you get those jeans and they don’t fit. You would have to return it through the mail and get a different size. When it comes to shopping in the store, you can try on different sizes to see what fits, then you purchase it and bring it home. I think this is much easier and you can bring it right home knowing it is exactly what you wanted.
When it comes to buying groceries, stores like Target and Walmart have this new way for customers to buy what they need. Now, you can order everything you need online, and it will be available for pick up at the nearest location to you. All you have to do is drive to the store, park, and it will be brought to your car. This is a very easy and quick way to do grocery shopping. It also limits spending because you won’t be as tempted to buy products they weren’t originally going to buy. Online, you buy what you need and not those impulse buys when you are walking around in the store. This form of online grocery shopping is extremely convenient for people in a rush, or maybe during the winter, you don’t want to get out into the cold, so this way of shopping is a good option.
For adults and parents, online shopping is very popular, as they may not have a lot of extra time to go out to the store in person due to busy work or parenting schedules. So, the majority of people that shops in store are young adults and teenagers. Shopping is something that brings teenagers together. A lot of times they go out with friends and it is a way to be social and a way to spend time with others. Teenagers love to go in person to shop to see what they like most and to try clothes on and to hang out with their friends. I definitely did this a lot when I was in middle school. I remember meeting up with my friends at the mall and spend the day with them shopping for new items to put in my closet and it was always so much fun.
One website that is used heavily when shopping online is Amazon. You can get almost anything on amazon, from a book to a mini fridge. I am sure that almost everybody has bought something off Amazon, as most items are available. It can also be a good website to buy products from as it tends to ship items very fast. In the past, I have needed a book for school or maybe a pair of gloves for winter, and they can come within a day after purchasing, which I think is amazing. You can even get groceries on Amazon and it is delivered to your door very quickly. This website is super efficient when getting almost any product imaginable. Also, online shopping is 24/7 and you can buy something at 2 AM if you wish to, where as stores at the mall are only open for a certain amount of hours a day. I know I have had times where I’ve needed to get something urgently, but the store was around closing time, and I would have to wait the next day, which can be a little annoying. So, I do believe online shopping is very efficient and easy, but I still like going and seeing a product in person before buying it.
When it comes to this topic: online versus in store shopping, everybody has their own preference. And this is okay. If you ask anyone which method is better, there is no right answer. Online shopping could be a better way for one person, where going to the store and bringing home a certain product that day might be somebody else’s preferred way of shopping.

I agree with you, I like going in stores for size reasons and finding out what I really want because I could go online and see something I think I like, and then go in stores and absolutely hate it. I feel like online shopping gives more of an inaccurate description of an item, especially when it comes to clothing. I can also see why buying food online and picking it up at the store can be convenient. Even though it could be considered lazy, you are right when it comes to limiting your spending instead of going to the store and buying way more than you were originally supposed to, which is one of my weaknesses. Also, I think online shopping could show you what ingredients/foods are actually at the store instead of showing up and looking around the isles for half an hour for one thing. Overall, I agree with you when you said that everyone has their own preferred way of shopping because even though there are many people leaning more and more towards online shopping, there are still individuals who enjoy going to a store and seeing things in person. Great essay!
I do think online shopping has become more common throughout the years. I think that ordering online is so convienent for certain things that you buy over others. For me, I buy a lot of clothes/shoes online because there is way more options than at stores. Also there are a lot of online stores that do not have physical buildings to go shop at. My whole family is full of people that are really tall, I am the odd one out that is just a little about average height. But either way we all need to order special sizes that not carried at the actual stores. The “tall” sections at all stores are only carried online for some reason. So we do not have control over if we get to shop in store or online
