Country VS City

Living in the country is way better than living in the city. Living in the country can provide a sense of serenity that the city could never provide. However, there are positives and negatives in both country life and city life.

City Advantages
Obviously living in the city has many advantages over living in the country. In the city, there will always be a restaurant or store that is open, no matter the time of day. This means that whenever you need something you can get it. The cost of transportation is very low, in most cities like Chicago and NYC you can get anywhere on a train or subway, you aren’t reliant on a car. Also, cities have a lot of diversity meaning your employment options are endless.

Country Advantages
Country life is completely different than in the city. Living in the country allows for a greater sense of community, this is because it is often that you’ll lean on your neighbors for help. Another advantage would be the view. Sure cities are cool at first, but they get boring, just large concrete structures piercing the sky. In the country you can see forever, sure the plains are flat and are extremely boring, but in places like Star Valley Wyoming sky-scraping mountains surround you and your village. As a teenager, I love star gazing and watching the sunset, however it is hard to watch the stars with all of the light pollution created by the big cities. In the country, there is no shortage of stars to be amazed by. The greatest advantage of country living is privacy. Living in the middle of nowhere means you can live your life and not be disturbed. Another advantage is you can actually have a yard. In the country, you can own a house and several acres for the same price as a tiny apartment in the city.

City Disadvantages
Cities are known to have more people than the country, this inherently means more traffic, no one likes traffic. More people also means more crime. Another disadvantage of living in the city is competition, there is competition in everything, who gets the parking spot, who gets the job, who’s going to get the last slice of pizza. Pollution is another huge issue since there are more people in the city than in the country, the city will have more pollution. This is because there are more people to accommodate.

Country Disadvantages
Living in the country also has its disadvantages. Everything is spread out, depending on where you live, you could drive up to an hour to the closest supermarket. Another disadvantage is that there is little to no phone reception.

It is clear that both living in the city and in the country has its advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, the advantages in the country outway the disadvantages. Which is why I think country living is superior to city living.
