3 thoughts on “Rumination?”
Hey Abraam, I really enjoyed reading this. I can also relate to ruminating, especially with college applications (as I’m sure many of us can). After reading this, I feel more confident so there is no reason for me to worry or to think about what’s already happened. I also find it productive to only worry about the things that are in my control, if it is productive to worry at all. It was really insightful when you said “psychologists have argued that rumination can be considered a mental illness. This is because it can intensify depression, trigger ocd and even cause eating disorders. According to BBC.com in their article “The danger of dwelling”, rumination is known as a “silent” disorder. This is because many tend to underestimate its effects. I didn’t even notice how rumination was draining me until after doing my own research. It truly is a silent killer.” because I had not known that rumination could really be that bad. Anyway those are just my thoughts on the topic of rumination and worrying.
Hello Abraam. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post. I never knew before this how powerful rumination can be and how it can negatively affect your productivity and mental health. Before I read this, I just believed that rumination was just deep thought about something, but now I know it can be even a medical condition that people face. Although this condition is important to keep in my, I usually do well to forget and not dwell on the past, and my past mistakes. I try my best to adapt to the present and focus on the now instead of trying to fix mistakes I made in the past, and I also try not to think to much about my past mistakes. However, this post would be a great stress reliever for those struggling to control their rumination, and I hope we can all stop this bad habit and focus on the present.
