  1. Digital amnesia is an interesting concept that seems to manipulate the way we think, unfortunately. All social media try to develop an addiction between the application and the user, and this enslaving process will only worsen for future generations. Seeing people gathered together and still choosing to go on their social media fills me with a great sadness. There is a YouTube channel I watch called “Ruff Criminal” that does ten-second album reviews, and I think this short-form content creation method will only leak into other forms of entertainment and lifestyle. I disagree with your assessment that decreasing attention spans are a good thing, because the mediums that are decreasing these attention spans stray the commonwealth away from mediums that require more attention span and benefit the wider world (books, artwork, etc.) Maybe these shortened attention spans will help us absorb more information, but the trends of the Google effect suggest otherwise. Overall, this essay is definitely “absurd.”

  2. This is very interesting. I have noticed my own attention span becoming shortened to the point where sometimes I can only watch a couple seconds of a tik tok video before getting bored and scrolling. It is amazing to think of how different our lives would be without technology, it is difficult to imagine how our parents all lived and went through school with limited technology, where we are given chromebooks and ipads to do school.
