One of the most influential ideas I learned through research is that while rural India can be a living hell for citizens, especially with the living conditions, outsiders view it in a very different perspective. In particular, outsiders view rural India in an almost nostalgic way, viewing the life in these areas as peaceful or simple, while in reality, many struggle every day to survive. Not only is this idea very important to answering my research question of how exactly the unrepresented voice of poor citizens of rural India influences the current state of poverty and the dynamics of reaching success, but also understanding the powerful importance of comparing and analyzing different perspectives. The second most influential idea I learned through research is the idea that providing opportunities to the rural poor, such as through housing is not enough to help solve the current issue. Instead, the community must be fixed internally in order to really help this issue. Thus, it shows the importance of ending a persistent cycle of suffering through the very start of the loop. This also impacts me in the way I view life in terms of privilege, as you can not just have privilege to be successful – you must also have good character to use it well. Most of all, I hope that people will learn the beauty of the process of analyzing and trying to come up with a solution. On top of this, I hope that my peers will see the beauty and importance of statistical tools and the importance of analyzing different perspectives while comparing them together to try to reach an objective conclusion as much as possible. In general, the most important thing I learned from my time at Naperville North High School is the importance of hard work. More specifically, I learned how essential it is to be able to build a unique but consistent work ethic, especially as this is what keeps you strong during large competition with your own dreams, deadline of time, competitive peers, and general academic stress. Lastly, the only advice I can give to future Naperville North High School seniors is if you put your heart and soul into this life you can do anything you want to do.
