Stuart Brown's Blog

About Me

Welcome to my unconventional blog where I discuss random topics of interest to me in hopes of entertaining select individuals who for some reason selected this blog to read. My name is Stuart Brown and I was born in England. My Mother is English and my Dad is Scottish, (yes Scotland and England are different places). They had to move away from Britain because of the constant reminder that the two groups hate each other. It is quite entertaining however as when it comes to any sports where the two teams compete, I get to choose who to support based on which parent is acting particularly generous.

We first moved to Germany when I was two years old and spent three years there due to my Dad’s work. We did like Dresden which is the city we were living in, however when the opportunity to come to America arose, my parents were quick to take it. We lived as green card holders until about a year ago when we finally became citizens. Perfect timing to get drafted to WW3 🙁 Growing up as the only British person in near proximity has been more of a blessing than a curse. Apart from the constant requests for me to say specific words such as a Water bottle, tomato, harry potter, and many other strange phrases, there have not been many detriments to having an accent.

Growing up I tried many different sports but didn’t find any that particularly interested me. I played soccer for a while but didn’t enjoy it enough to continue. Recently however I discovered Autocross after participating in a driving clinic. Autocross is basically racing cars round a course that changes every time you go. It is a race against the clock and at the end of the day the driver with the fastest lap time wins. For this you have to have a fast car so I have modified my fiesta ST to make it much quicker round the course. This has taken up most of my time during the summer as modifying and then testing those modifications on race day takes a lot of time.

The main reason I am into cars is because of my dad. Growing up he has always had cool cars that he has worked on or raced in. I loved to tag along with him whenever I could see him race or help him when he was working on his car. He recently built his own car which I helped a bit with which was very cool. He taught me how to drive a stick shift and then how to follow a racing line. We always do autocross events together in my car and our times are always close. I can normally beat his time but on the odd occasion he beats me I make sure to point out a flaw in either the car or course. My mother has never really been into cars but she supports us racing and sometimes tags along to ride in the car with us.

My family also loves to travel and we try to go somewhere new every year. I Have been lucky enough to visit many exotic places such as South Africa, Bali, Iceland and Egypt. This past summer I visited Italy where we toured round the famous attractions and cities. Unfortunately it was about 110 degrees so walking around outside was not very enjoyable. We did get to do some fun activities however such as making pasta which was fun.

I hope that this blog can be a place where we can all learn some random facts that will be mostly useless but entertaining nonetheless. Anyway if you are still here I salute you as I don’t think I could have made it this far, and I do hope you visit again soon.
