About Me

Hi there! Welcome to my blog!
My name is Melissa Chiou. I’m a second generation Taiwanese-American, meaning my parents immigrated from Taiwan to America. I’m an only child, but I have a five year old female yorkie-poo named Coco!

Coco’s Instagram

I also made an Instagram for Coco which makes a lot of people cringe when they hear about it, but I think it’s fun that my dog has her own Instagram. Shameless plug – if you’d like to follow her, it’s @coco.the.yorkie.poo, and she will follow you back 🙂

Field hockey: I play center forward
Badminton: I played doubles at State last year (our team won third place)

I’m very active, I enjoy playing sports, lifting weights, and doing group workouts. After trying a variety of sports (volleyball, cross country, gymnastics, ice skating, track, tennis, etc.) and realizing my lack of potential in those, I have settled on playing field hockey and badminton. They are very different sports, with field hockey being played outdoors on a turf field with a stick and hard ball, while badminton being played indoors on a court with a racket and light feather birdie. Despite the stark contrast between the two, I like to think of it as representative of the multi-faceted person I am.

Cupcakes that I baked and frosted

I loovvee baking and cooking! From french macarons to sushi to pizza to creme brulee to multi-layered cakes, I have scoured the internet (mostly AllRecipes.com and Food Network) for the best recipes for almost everything. My favorite thing to bake is lemon cookies, but my favorite dessert is a warm, chewy brownie with ice cream!

My favorite show of all time, Covert Affairs!

In my free time, I enjoy watching Netflix, with YouTube being a close second. Typically, my Netflix genre choices are either romcom, spy/action (Covert Affairs), or drama (Love, Rosie), but I will watch anything that is not horror! I also spend way too much time watching funny and “daily life” videos of vloggers on YouTube (The Labrant Fam, Yasmyn&Laela). Feel free to reach out to me if you are in need of a good show or movie to watch!

I’m excited about having my very own blog this semester and I hope that you will find my posts at least a teensy bit entertaining. Let me know what thoughts or questions you have in the comments. Happy reading!
