I really should start with the fact that my full name is Liberty so that you can understand the title of my blog. Libby is my nickname, although a lot of my friends still call me Liberty. Often, my friends and family will say, “Liberty Faith” just to get my attention (I drift off into la la land a lot). First and middle name means busine-ss. It also made US History class last year a lot of fun. I personally really enjoyed making a lot of America and Liberty jokes with my name. And on the Fourth of July, nobody really could beat me at a ‘who is the most patriotic’ game. Maybe I was just meant to live in the 1600’s.
I guess that’s another thing, I love Jesus. Whenever someone asks me about being a Christian, I always say that Jesus is like the coolest guy I know. And it’s true! I’ve known Jesus since I was little and the concept of God was not unknown to me. But it wasn’t until eighth grade to freshman year that I truly made my faith my own. Now, I’m trying to live a life that is honoring to Christ. Honestly, He is the reason I’m still at my computer typing this today. I really don’t think I would make it far in life without God. He has also given me a lot to be grateful for: my family, friends and just everything in life. A lot of my friends I have met because of Jesus and by that, I mean I’ve met them through church.
At church, I really enjoy playing guitar on worship team. My friend and I are currently the leaders for youth band at our church and I love it! We get to choose songs, run practices and teach younger students how to lead worship as well as encouraging them to worship. On Sunday mornings, I love seeing the entire congregation worshiping. It may seem simple, but I find myself communicating with God through music.
Since I’ve started playing guitar, music has become really important to me. As I learned how to play, I started listening to music differently. I could listen and hear each individual part of the song, how the bass added to it, the different harmonies, the drum beats in the back of each song. For the most part, I listen to indie and pop music, but I also really love Christian music. And I do my best to try and listen to any song that someone has suggested to me. (Drop some good song suggestions below and I will give it a listen).
I guess some other general knowledge about me: I love art, I love books, I love writing, I love learning. This year I didn’t take a math or science class and filled my day with English classes and art classes.
I’ve been swimming since I was five and freshman year I decided to join the water polo team. Both sports have taught me so much and I’ve gained a lot of life experiences from both of them. As much as I love both sports, after high school I’ve decided that I’m not going to continue as a professional athlete. The Olympics will be disappointed, well maybe not. There go my chances of meeting Michael Phelps.
So in the pursuit of happiness, enjoy my blog!
