My name is Kyra McKeska, welcome to my blog!
It’s hard to tell my “story” when I don’t feel like I have much of one, but let me tell you where I’ve been and where I’m going.
I am a daughter, sister, friend, volunteer, musician, etc. My entire life has been consumed by multiple identities and a fight to balance these. I have been shaped by the people that I have been lucky enough to know and the experiences that I have been lucky enough to have.
One of the most important influences in my life has been my family. I am the youngest of three siblings, with one older brother, and one older sister. I have two incredibly supportive parents and one amazing 12-year-old puppy named Sammy. My mom is one of seven siblings, so I feel extremely lucky to have had many hectic family gatherings and a number of memories that have shaped my childhood and who I am today. Family has taught me love, patience, fun, and everything in between.
Music has also played a big role in my life, as it has brought me to some of my best friends and an environment that I will be forever thankful for. In such a large school, it can be intimidating to try and find your place, but I was welcomed with open arms into a community of people that was fully ready to accept me. Music has created an environment for me where I can be my full self and enjoy a learning environment free of stress and judgement. Throughout high school, I have been most involved in the Naperville North show choir combo, the Hot Brockets. This group has been essential to my growth over my four years of high school. Though many of them are now in college, this group has brought me some of my best friends and provided me with a group of people that I can rely on and confide in as needed.
As I continue to grow and develop through my experiences, I hope to remain in a secure enough position so that I may use my time and skills in order to help other people, whether that is through relationships with friends, or with volunteer opportunities. Some of the experiences that have shaped me the most are volunteer opportunities. I have found these experiences to be the most fulfilling in my life as the satisfaction of being able to help someone is greater than any other. In realizing this, I hope to be able to continue to be presented with and seek out these opportunities as I continue with my education and work towards my future career.
I am so thankful for the experiences I have had and the people that have fostered my growth as I continue to further myself in any way that I can. I hope that I am able to take all of these things with me into my future in order to create a better one for myself!
Thanks for bearing with me on my journey,
Kyra
