Oh…hi there! So I don’t know what you were expecting, but my life isn’t very interesting. It rarely resembles one of those quirky teen movies about a girl who just can’t seem to fit in, but ends up becoming popular and winning prom queen. No…just no. I can’t promise a drama filled, “Mean Girls” sequel (the actual sequel will not be spoken of because it is simply horrendous), but I can try to break down my somewhat chaotic, crackhead lifestyle. So let’s just skip the boring parts and get to the good stuff shall we.

Big Tennis Gal (especially on fun fridays)
Fun Fridays, to keep it simple, are the fridays that the team uses as an excuse to eat food and dress up. Throughout my four years of playing on the NNHS tennis team, I don’t think I’ve experienced a single fun friday without something going wrong. During “frat boy” day, we all dressed up as frat boys in 80 + degree weather, and I swear I almost passed out from playing tennis in a polo shirt and a tie. During twin day, I dressed up as a VSCO girl and truly embodied it, complete with a scrunchie, tie dye shirt and sunglasses, however one of my teammates got hit with a tennis racket halfway through and we literally had to carry her off the courts. There was never a normal fun friday, and every week was something new; from cha-chaing with Senora Bishop to eating potato chips when we were supposed to be warming up. All in all, tennis really contributed to my crackhead life so far, and I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been a blast.

A Good Samaritan
On a more serious note, I’ve always loved to participate in an array of service activities since I was young. I always try my best to volunteer at local food shelters, hospitals etc. But last year, I got to thinking about how I wanted to expand my volunteering horizons. Because I had already dipped my toes into the local service opportunities, I decided to work with a friend to start a team at North called NNHS BuildOn, and go to Guatemala to build a school. It took months of hard work, countless hours spent fundraising and advertising and selling items, but we finally raised over $24,000 for our trek, and in July of 2019, our North team went to the community of Santa Maria for 10 days to build a school, learn about Guatemalan lifestyle, discuss differences between our respective countries, and even got to live with host sisters and brothers. The reason that this moment has contributed to my life is the fact that I was able to work with a bunch of other stress-filled, anxiety ridden students like myself to then go on a trip of a lifetime and make real contributions towards helping those who need it

Horror Movies Fanatic
I LOVE horror movies. I used to hate them when I was younger, but the only reason that I started liking them was because watching them with your best friends who are complete scaredy-cats is the funniest thing ever. The first horror movie I watched was IT, in the theater with my friends. Why? I really couldn’t tell you, it was kind of a spur of the moment decision. Anyway, I ended up covering my eyes for half the movie and clutching the hands of my friends. Half way through the movie, it was pretty much decided that I would not be watching another horror movie…until one of my friends jumped 2 feet off her seat during a jump scare causing her popcorn to come tumbling to the ground, while simultaneously screaming so loud that every single person in the theater turned to look at us. It was at that moment, through my uncontrollable fit of laughter, that my love for horror movies bloomed.

Future “Mrs. Save Your Life”
I’ve always been confused as to what I wanted to be when I grew up. It didn’t make sense to me that we were supposed to miraculously have our life goals and aspirations picked out by the time we were 16, but I tried anyways because I didn’t want to be broke and homeless. After going to many different career events and talking to many different people, I came to the conclusion that I would never find a career that interested me. And then I came upon the Physician Assistant. Yes, that is the correct spelling. No it is not called Physicians Assistant. After interning at a Women’s Health Center and shadowing a PA there, I was in awe of how easily she was able to interact with patients, make them feel welcome, and also work efficiently and get her appointments done. Now, I am sure that this is the career that I want to be a part of and I’m excited to start a new chapter in my life.
So there ya have it folks. I told you. Chaotic…yet somewhat functional at the same time? Now that I’m reading it over, I realize that I have done some pretty cool things during my 17 years of life. I hope you learned a little bit more about me and come back to read my future blog posts because I can guarantee you that they will be interesting!
