Hey guys! My name is Gabby Hammond and I am currently a senior in high school just trying to figure out how to get past this grueling last year and decide what I want to do with my life. Here are a few things that are essential to who I am as a person.
For starters, my family is the most important thing to me. I have an older sister, two older brothers, my parents, and the cutest yellow labrador puppy named Crosby, who is only 9 months old right now. My best friend in the whole world is my mom, and I am so thankful for that relationship every single day. I get along really well with each of my siblings in different ways. My oldest brother is adopted from El Salvador which has been a real adventure for me and my family but has absolutely changed the person I am and the outlook I have on life, which I’m really grateful for. My other brother is the “nerdiest” of us all, but he is so intelligent and successful in what he does and I really look up to him. My sister and I can get along so well and it’s so much fun, but we obviously have our sister moments that you definitely don’t want to get caught in the middle of.

I wouldn’t say I’m incredibly athletic and good at every sport I try, but I do love sports and have played at least one my whole life. I took after both my brothers and started playing ice hockey when I was about 5 years old and I loved it with every ounce of me, most of the time double rostering on a boys team and a girls team. My last year playing ice hockey was freshman year, where I picked up golf and lacrosse, and 3 sports with schoolwork became too overwhelming. I have stuck to golf and lacrosse up through my senior year now and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made. I would love to be able to play golf in college, I really fell in love with it. I love the life lessons it has taught me, and I also love how close it has brought me and my dad since we get to travel for tournaments and play together all the time.
Another really important thing in my life is my faith. My entire family is Christian and I always grew up in this religion, but I would say it connects me most with my sister. I am really active at my church, and for the past three years I have been a student youth group leader for middle schoolers and I absolutely love it and the relationships it has built me with amazing girls. It also plays a huge part in my life (along with my adopted brother’s background) because my family and I spend a lot of time doing faith-based mission work in El Salvador. I have gone the past couple of summers and it’s also awesome because I get to work on my Spanish, which I am hoping to minor in when I’m older.
I hope you guys learned something about me, and I am super excited to get this blog started for you to read!!
