Hi! My name is Albert; I am a senior at Naperville North this year. Welcome to my blog where I write stuff.
I enjoy playing sports and talking about them with my friends. One of our most heated sports topics is who’s the GOAT(Greatest of All Time), Michael Jordan or Lebron James. I think it’s Jordan because he’s a better defender and has a higher Player Efficiency Rating. Being from the Chicago area, I’m a fan of most of the Chicago sports teams. I say most because I shamefully consider myself a bandwagon of the two baseball teams in our area. I’ve been following the Blackhawks for years now. As a huge hockey fan, it sucks to see them underperform recently but I’ve enjoyed the glory of the past three championships. I hope that the Bears can win the Superbowl sometime in the near future. It has been a tough past decade for us Bears fans so it’s great to see the recent success.
I also enjoy traveling. I know it’s cliche because of how often people like to put “Travel” as one of their Instagram Story Highlights. Off-topic. Anyways, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to places like Austria, China, Spain, Canada, and Mexico. I mostly go to China to visit family, although I’m not a huge fan of traveling there so often. Austria and Canada were really cool because of all the mountains and snow that was there. Vienna was a city that was very rich in culture. In Spain, we visited Madrid, which also had very rich culture. I plan on traveling to a lot more countries in the future. I hope to go to South America someday, Africa and more of Asia as well. Maybe I’ll go as a solo backpacker, or go with a friend or romantic partner.
I am Chinese-American, and a second generation immigrant. My parents are somewhat traditional, and strict but they are pretty laid-back especially for Chinese immigrant parents. They are very supportive parents and they encourage me to pursue my passions, and that’s what I appreciate most about them. Although, my Dad is smart, I’m on track to be smarter than him in the future. Take that Dad! My mom is tough and I admire her work ethic and drive. Those are qualities that I want to gain as I continue to grow.
So far, senior year has been really tough. I severely underestimated the difficulty of balancing college applications with school work. Especially since almost all of my colleges require supplements along with the Common App essay, I haven’t gotten much sleep. Maintaining a strong social life can also be tiring. I hope that I can get into my top choice school: Boston College. I liked the campus atmosphere there, and it’s far from my parents. (Update: I got in!)
My main goal in life is to be happy. I know. It’s cheesy as #@!#. We don’t get much time to live, so take full advantage of the time you have left to be happy!
Anyways, that’s a little about me. If you’re reading this I hope you are living life to the fullest!
