The Playlist of my life

The songs I listen to all depend on my mood. I listen to most genres of music but mainly pop and country.

International Harvester by Craig Morgan – I like this song because its basically the FFA National Anthem and we always yell: “I got 2 boys in the county 4-H I’m a lifetime sponsor of the F.F.A. Hay!” when that part comes on.

I Did Something Bad by Taylor Swift – This song is one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs, its bad ass and my favorite part is: “If a man talks shit, then I owe him nothing”. I personally like this song better when she performs it live.

Find Me [Spoken word] by Forest Blakk – I like this song because the lyrics are  well said and it gives me a lot of meaning.

She’s Country by Jason Aldean – This is one of my favorite Country songs. It’s a bop.

The Man by Taylor Swift – Who doesn’t like hearing her cuss?

The Lives of the Dead

I have always wanted a dog but my mom never liked them, but finally agreed to get one. We looked many places for him and found Kodah who was “Pup 46” at that time. We got to spend some time with him and we all loved him, and he ended up being the one we wanted. Since he was sick when he was little we couldn’t socialize him which really sucks. He is pretty great too, he’s very loving and greets me almost every day when I come home from anywhere. He is very energetic and loves going on walks. He loves treats too. But he also sleeps a lot when he’s not excited for anything. Now today, he doesn’t like anyone outside of our immediate family. Ever since we got him I have always loved animals. All the animals in my life have changed me so much. I currently have two guinea pigs, Oreo and Pumpkin. Oreo is super energetic and loves to run around, and Pumpkin on the other hand is pretty much the opposite, very chill.

At school we have two therapy dogs named Sam and Jack they are brothers. I  love them and they love me right back. They like to sit next to me when they say hi or they are always putting their head against my chest. I also really love Tucker, he’s such a great and joyful dog. He’s “The school dog” in the companion animal room and we get along great. He likes chewing his toys on which I have no problem with.

My best friend has a dog named Carson, who is super sweet but also barks a lot and loves seeing me. She also has a neighbor who has a cat named Ninja. She is as well super sweet and loves when I stop by. Another best friend of mine has a dog too as well named Remy who gets very excited to see me.

All these animals are super sweet and mean so much to me in many ways. I really would like to have a career with them if I could. I have a big heart for animals, and always will.

While I’ve written this blog, Pumpkin who was about 4 months old just passed away. It made me extremely sad. He meant a lot to me, and was my second guinea pig I’ve owned, Oreo being the first at about 7 months. I got Oreo at 6 months and Pumpkin at 3 months.

Animals mean a lot to me and I would like to have a career with them, I’m not exactly sure what specifically.

Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong

Mary Anne was Mark Fossie’s girlfriend who was very quiet. Mary Anne transforms into a predatory killer after a short period of time of being in Vietnam. When she arrived, she was very friendly and young. She was tall, blonde, had long white legs, and blue eyes. O’Brien mentions that, “She was curious about things. During her first days in-country she liked to roam around the compound asking questions” (O’Brien 91). It foreshadows that she’s going to change into someone else. This quote is telling us how curious she is and wants to know more. Being curious, roaming around, and asking questions showed that she was changing because most people would think she should be scared.

Something that has changed me in my life is life experiences and parents opinion. An example is listening to my parents about what I do. A time this happened is when homecoming came around and I was gonna go to dinner with my friends. My mom told me that I didn’t have too much money left and that I should probably save it. She said I could go if I wanted to, but I didn’t end up going and saved the money for another time. They know me best and have transformed me into who I am. I have changed because of  the people who surround me at school. Teachers at school can expect much out of me academically and how I do in school.

Mary Anne transforms because of the environment she is in and because of the people she was with. She went to Vietnam to be with her boyfriend at first then she got curious when she arrived and wanted to be there for the war. Most people during Vietnam thought that women shouldn’t fight in war because it was a manly thing to do but Mary Anne decided to fight anyway. Today many women fight in war because as a society we grew to believe that the old way of war can change and may not stay the same.

The book is classified as fiction novel, but I believe that some parts of it could be true facts. When O’Brien talked about all the things his teammates carried, it seemed like it could be true. In the first chapter Tim O’Brien mentions “Dave Jensen , who practiced field hygiene, carried a toothbrush, dental floss, and several hotel – sized bars of soap he’d stolen on R&R in Sydney, Australia.” The items O’Brien mentions seem like realistic things someone would carry during war. If I was in war these items would be items I would carry as well, making the book more realistic.

About me

Hi my name is Allyson, but most people call me Ally. I’m 17 and a Junior at Naperville North High School, I am involved in a club at school called FFA.

FFA is a wonderful youth organization that teaches leadership and career readiness skills through agriculture education. We go to many events like CDE’s which are competitions against other schools, including dairy foods which we taste different dairy products to see if we know what it is, horse evaluation to decide which horse is the best, and public speaking which could be creed speaking and just saying the FFA creed which is:

I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds – achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years.

I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny.

I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil.

I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so–for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me.

I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.

Just to name a few. Other fun events we go to are the conventions, state and nationals. State being smaller then nationals obviously. I went to state this year in June 2019, which was really fun. My favorites were the sessions only because the state officers made it funny. The State officers were Sophia Hortin who was the President, Eliza Petry, the Vice President, Shaylee Clinton, Reporter, Miriam Hoffman, Secretary, and Taylor Hartke, Treasure. That was the 2018 2019 year. This year its Gage Miller, President, Lane Harvey, Vice president, Brodee McCormick, Reporter, Collin White, Secretary, and Emma Freebairn, Treasure. On the other hand, I haven’t been to nationals yet, I hear there is way more to do and it’s gonna be really fun and I plan on going.

Other than FFA, I don’t do much, I love animals, which is in FFA. I recently go two Guinea Pigs, Oreo and Pumpkin. I really like them and they get along great. I don’t have too much to say about them. I also have a dog, he’s a Shih Tzu Poodle mix. He doesn’t like visitors and can be mean. His names Kodah and he’s about 7 years old. I love him too.

Two other random facts are about me is, I love Taylor Swift, and my favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers, my favorite player is Juju Smith – Schuster.

Courage

Courage takes a while to build, and comes a little bit at a time. Tim O’Brien defines courage as inheritance, and by being frugal and stashing it away…the account must be drawn down. He defines it this way because he is a solider, and they do a lot of skilled, risky and dangerous things that a lot of people wouldn’t do. Not everything includes courage, and when they need courage they have it. I would define courage as having strength in myself to do something challenging. An example would be standing up for my self when people are mean to me.
